Our Tui Kids programme is on hiatus! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to receive updates!
As our world becomes increasingly dependent on technology, children are spending more and more time in front of screens. Whether it's for school, entertainment, or socializing, the digital world often takes up a significant portion of their daily lives. In response to this shift, we want to encourage a change—a movement towards reconnecting with nature. Our goal is to replace screen-time with nature-time, with moments spent outdoors, breathing fresh air, enjoying natural landscapes, and fostering a deeper connection to the natural world.
We provide a one-day-per-week EOTC nature school programme out of Spa Park, Taupō for tamariki aged 5 to 11 years old that focuses on the overall development of children—social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and cognitive. Through alternating between structured activities and child-led free-play periods, children are encouraged to engage in meaningful learning that helps them to develop transferable skills and connects them to the environment around them.
Children in our programme will:
gain confidence
build resilience
practice communication
develop curiosity
learn to problem-solve independently and as a team
begin to understand their own limitations by practicing safe risk-taking
Our tamariki will get to engage in a wide range of outdoor activities such as bivouac building, tying knots, orienteering, creating natural artwork, learning about wildlife and team building challenges, as well as cultural activities, dress-up days, science projects and even the odd field trip!
